Eastern Community Projects Fund Update (19/454)

The Community Advisor – Funding and Community Contracts and the Divisional Manager, Infrastructure Contracts made the following comments:

·                Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
Three AEDs were ordered through Wellington Free Ambulance and were scheduled to be installed by 24 April 2019;

·                Wellington Free Ambulance had offered AED training to those on site at the locations where the AEDs were to be installed.

·                Included on each of the AEDs were the inscription “supported by Eastern Community Panel”;

·                Water fountains
Three water fountains were scheduled to be installed by the end of April 2019.

·                New Naenae Skatepark
Due to the recent closure of Naenae Swimming Pool, this project has been put on hold.

·                Restoration of the Clocktower
Initial findings were that there was a considerable amount of restoration needed, with an initial estimate that the works would cost approximately $25,000.  It was not possible for tradespeople to inspect the clock because the steps were rotten and in need of repair.

Members requested that officers:

(i)       Explore alternative site locations for a new skatepark in Naenae;

(ii)     explore alternative site locations for the water fountain that was to be located at Naenae Park; and
