Beach Toilets – Would like to retain the existing shell and the showers/changing rooms in the refit of the public toilets.

 

A low budget internal refit of these facilities is all that is required to bring these toilets to an acceptable standard, not a new Exeloo.

 

Once budget is confirmed we will engage with the community. The existing facility’s condition will be assessed before any decision is made regarding demolition.

Piha has undertaken a similar toilet refurbishment.

The beach has become smaller, sand has washed away. Could officers please review re grooming of beach and adding more sand? The design of the new seawall should be conducive to building up the beach.

 

A  proposal is being sought from Tonkin & Taylor to review the beach behaviour

Dog sign needed at the top of Point Howard near the water tanks where people start their walks, and the track junction on the top of the hill.

“Owners to keep dogs under control at all times.”

The entrance signs to all regional parks already have signs stating dogs must be leashed and to pick up droppings etc. We are slowly replacing signage throughout the Eastbourne/ Harbour Ward areas now. Regional Council and Doc have dog advisory messages incorporated in their information boards.

Mirrors are installed at residents at their cost set up to assist them getting out of driveways. The resident may arrange the installation by contacting Bob Gell of Directions Ltd on 0278083206.

Marine Dr – parking on cycleway north of the bus stop.

They do not realise it is a walk/cycleway

Formed parking requested outside the front of the pump station for 7 vehicles. BYL there at present.

 

Cars cannot park over the access doors to the pump station. Council will mark parking for 4 vehicles in suitable locations as requested. Completed

Marine Dr sea wall issues. Step at bottom of sea wall causing scouring at the wall base. Concerns over loss of beach through wave action due to existing and proposed sea wall. Residents need more info on proposals when available.

 

Seawall inspections have been completed recently and maintenance is currently being programmed for repairs. Consultation for the new seawalls / shared path is an ongoing process with residents

Overhanging vegetation issues

The corner by 2 Taungata Road for traffic turning into the corner from the south;

Speed limit change to 70km outside the petrol station is difficult for cars exiting the station

Could it please be lowered to 50km

Council has twice previously consulted and considered lowering of the speed limit to 50kph following the required statutory process and change has not been supported by the consultation results and it has been rejected by Council.

The stream at the bottom of Moana Road does not drain out and is polluted.

The beach has built up which restricts the stream from emptying especially when there is low rainfall
